An Invitation to Invest in Our Future

The Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy, the supporting foundation of AMCP, is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, funded entirely through contributions and course fees. We seek additional support from national and international healthcare companies, individual leaders in managed care pharmacy and payers of healthcare benefits, so we can help the public get the best available, best value drugs. Simply put, our work serves to help people get the medications they need.

Over the last 20 years, FMCP has been improving pharmacy benefit management through innovation and leadership, specifically by conducting philanthropic research and development, training and supporting future leaders and recognizing excellence and innovation in our industry. FMCP is nationally recognized as a leader in communicating and delivering objective knowledge in pharmacy benefits to those involved in healthcare, including patients, payers, employers, providers of patient care and providers of pharmacy benefits.

The Board of Trustees of FMCP invites you to Invest in Our Future. FMCP is funded primarily through tax deductible contributions from individuals and corporations and we ask for your support to continue our work and to help us to launch our vision for the next generation. FMCP provides a beacon to all managed care professionals dedicated to furthering cost-effective therapy. As we expand our efforts to advance the care of millions, one person at a time, we ask you to commit yourselves to our vision and to our cause with a gift to FMCP.

Also please check out all of the FMCP events taking place at the AMCP national meeting in San Diego. We hope you can join us, especially for the First Annual Steven G. Avey Award Lecture, designed to honor the recipient of this year’s Steven G. Avey Award, industry leader and colleague, Dr. Norrie Thomas, and to thank our 2010 fiscal year donors (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010), including members of the FMCP Founders’ Circle.

The Steven G. Avey Award recognizes an individual for sustained, exemplary, and distinguished service and leadership to the practice of managed care pharmacy. Recipients are professionals who have shown great vision and dedication to managed care pharmacy and made significant lifetime contributions to the advancement of this field in clinical and/or administrative practice. Previous recipients of this award have established long and distinguished careers, and in many cases have pioneered many of the practices now firmly established in our profession. It is considered the highest professional honor in the practice of managed care pharmacy.

As FMCP has grown and the award has matured into the premier award given in managed care pharmacy, and in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the award, we would like to expand the recognition of the Steven G. Avey Award winner.

On Thursday evening, April 8, we are planning a reception, followed by a lecture. All previous Steven G. Avey Award winners will be invited to join Norrie Thomas on stage while she gives her lecture. We will also use this time to award a scholarship for an up and coming student pharmacist leader interested in pursuing a career in healthcare leadership.

At the conclusion of the lecture, the celebration of the 10th Annual Steven G. Avey Award continues at an invitation only dessert reception, sponsored by PartnersRx, in honor of this year’s honoree and also Steven G. Avey who is celebrating 5 years at PartnersRx and 4 years cancer free!
